Each leg is comprised of twelve solid, individually tapered layers of wood laminated together under extreme force. The result is an elegant, curved section that is far stronger than a straight section of wood more than ten times its size. The seat and back were developed to provide proper support in various seated positions. Every joint and seam is perfectly executed and not one detail goes overlooked. In order to manufacture the Lydig chair, three new machines had to be engineered and built by hand. The craftsmanship and quality of materials used to create the Lydig chair far surpass industry standards. The design of the Lydig chair effortlessly pushes wood to its absolute limit as a building material.
